LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Southern Nevada man’s experience with skin cancer is drawing attention to a growing healthcare access problem in the region, with long wait times and a shortage of primary care providers that affects thousands of residents.
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A new approach to health care is aiming to make it easier for Southern Nevadans to see a doctor without long waits or hospital visits.
An expanding local practice, Upbeat Health is now offering same-day appointments and even bringing specialized care directly to patients’ homes.
“Since 2013, I’ve noticed that there’s been a tremendous need for primary care; we see people just continuously neglecting their health,” said Justin Bituin, CEO of Upbeat Health.
Across Las Vegas, long wait times and limited access to care cause many patients to postpone treatment or rely on emergency rooms for non-emergent needs. Upbeat Health, a modern, independently owned multispecialty practice, is stepping forward with expanded access to care and service delivery models designed to meet patients where they are including same-day and next-day appointments and mobile wound care services that bring treatment directly to homes and communities.
In the middle of the pandemic, when it seemed like business after business in Las Vegas was closing, Upbeat Health was just getting started. Today, the Summerlin clinic’s mobile wound-care team has grown nearly tenfold, one small example of how Nevada’s entrepreneurs turned crisis into opportunity.
